Day 12

Our inspiration these days is the Zanate. A black, loud bird sitting in the trees outside our window here in Loma Panoramica. We had a great chat with Sal, our favourite CVI-expert, and she was happy to hear that we incorporate useful information about shapes and colours while we are here.

Working with vision, hearing, tactile (feeling) is not about learning “what is black” “what is a bird”, because Simen knows all these things very well. It is all about practising to recognize differentiate shapes, colours and sounds in complex environments.

LISTEN: For example practice to just listen to the Zenate, even if the tumble dryer, the traffic, the talking are competing with each other - because that can be difficult for the brain.

SEE: Or as with vision, being able to find a detail, i.e a bird in a tree, which is a complex picture with all the leaves, the power lines, the branches, the clouds etc. Then it is helpful to have seen the shape and the colour in a calm environment first and look for that.

DO: When it comes to drawing, it is all about looking at the shape of an object and try to combine vision and movement, which for Simen requires a lot of concentration and focus.
